The use of the existing National Park Natural Resources within the Brightwood-Manor Park community to provide real-time, onsite, public information, outreach and educational demonstrations in a learning, fun and interactive environment for both the immediate community and city-wide stakeholders. The use of the existing Peabody Community Gardens at Fort Circle Park (9thand Peabody Streets) to provide a prototype “blueprint” for upgrades to adjacent connecting Ft. Circle Parks and other local parklands within the community’s boundaries which is the cornerstone to transforming these National Park Natural Resources into use for local community sustainability.
In support of maximizing the existing resources provided by the existence of the community gardens, this proposal increases the number of existing community-specific gardens from 84 to 100. It will incorporate ongoing emergency preparedness information, presentations and onsite technology display themes. It will also serve to augment resources of the adjacent Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)-District 4 Headquarters as a community satellite resource during natural or man-made disaster events. Specifically, in the area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing/Special Needs awareness in the Brightwood-Manor Park community.
Other ways we propose to maximize existing and new resources include the use of the technology provided by handheld/smartphones devices. These devices are prevalent in the community and provide new innovative ways we can review, evaluate and purchase organic-natural foods products, prepare our immediate community for emergency preparedness, and transfer the latest sustainable technologies to be used for community development, well-being and safety, and the protection of the natural resources provided by the Parklands.
